I HAVE A DECENT JOB , GETTING WELL PAID , WHY DO I NEED TO DO MBA ? ( COMMENTS FROM URPERCENTILE SUBSCRIBERS)
Amiyesh Verma : It's popular belief that MBA is pursued to get fat package and if this is the real driver behind choosing MBA as a career than your statement is correct and probably you don't need an MBA degree although at this stage also MBA will surely help to tackle new challenges in most effective way by grooming you to take an extra mileage. MBA does not gurantee you anything but this programme surely provides you conducive atmosphere to learn from intellects and classmates by taking you through various casestudies which replicates real time problem faced by industry. Not only this, MBA also assist you to come up with optimal and innovative approach to deal with difficult situation. It brings best in you and makes your more confident and able to convert mountain like problem into a mole. Now the next question comes to your mind that do we really need to do MBA in order to achieve this skill set and my answer to this would be 'No'. If you have burning desire and sufficient pool of resources in terms of guidance, talent and platform then you don't need to do an MBA. Meteoric rise of Microsft, Google, Reliance confirms the fact that MBA is not necessary if you have undying desire to achieve something and Bill Gates is burning example.
I would like to conclude this discussion by stating aforesaid thought in two lines-"Fat package should ot be key driver and real push should come from your hearstings which compels you to take an step ahead and generates learning desire within you".
Pranav Parikh : There are many folks who are of the opinion that you've stated.
And then there are many other folks who say they need an MBA to get a jump-start to their career and they are already substantially up-on-the-corporate-ladder at the beginning of their careers.
Indeed, there are no wrong answers. Both the opinions are correct.
Many college-dropouts have proved that in a business and in a corporate world, success is not a baby of the only MBAs. So it's incorrect if you think that you need MBA to be successful. But at the same time, it'll give a boost to your career for sure.
Look out for full-time MBA programs – where you can network & build a relationship with people who can be of help to you later in your career.
In the end, what'll matter is what you want out of life. Will an MBA get you what you really, really want out of life? If you're not sure on what you want out of life, that is Step 1. People talk of career goals, professional goals, etc. Nobody ever talks of spiritual goals. Think about it.
Puneet: My name is Puneet Khanwani.I want to reply to this question as i had the same confiednce of a good future when i was offered job in Dubai.
No doubt that my job has a very good scope as i am into marketing and sales but i have realised that doing masters in your area will make your way smooth and you will be able to analyse and learn many things quickly.
Haja Nawaz : Without MBA u will not have an decent job and u will not be paid well also. So i feel the question itself is wrong. Might be we must have got satisfied with the peanuts without seeing the external oppurtunities. MBA is a must these days to keep u climbing your organization ladder.
V Mandhania : Its good to have a decent well paid job, but one is never sure about the future. Having a degree like MBA can always helpt to switch over the job even across sector, where the knowledge of job, previously done, may not be required. And also MBA can help to advance in career.
Tejas: Its not a wise decision by just enjoying short term fruits by ignoring a professional degree, it wil fetch u more better salary n prospect of gaining a better position
Tanya Shah : Even if im well paid then also im in not that position which i can get after doing MBA
ct83in : First find the answer to what makes you happy?
Here are some examples:-
Taking credit of increasing a company's market share in an area with your innovative ideas?
Or sitting in a corner of an office getting a "handsome" salary and doing only what you are asked to do?
generating employment for the under priviliged. (My personal goal)
you need an MBA to learn a great deal about the real world and staying out of it at the same time!!
It will open up unlimited oppurtunities. i would say if you have money to spare...you should go for it...
akj_lucky4all: It is totally wise to do MBA even when you have already landed in a decent job profile .It provides us a much more wider perspective to look at things and for career growth by understanding the corporate world
Hardik Doshi: I read the comments in response to this question and I must say, a few of them were quite naive and disappointing.
The essence of an MBA is purely in its name - "Business Administration". It should only be the urge to learn business that should force you to think about leaving a nice job and pursuing MBA. A lot of people who have passed out with plum offers are not happy after a year or so and wish they should have stuck to their technical fields, because they weren't the types! "Getting quick promotions","Building self-confidence","Tackling challenges","Entry into the corporate world","Networking" are the most bizarre reasons one can ever come across.
It is purely the drive to learn Business and Management that should motivate you to do an MBA. Otherwise pursuing post-graduate studies in other fields also give you opportunities with satisfaction, money and growth.
My views completely. No offense intended.
Sachin Kanaujia : Well its not about the earnings its about the learnings that you get after an MBA is what really matters. Not to refute anyones point but to put my point to view, the GATES and the JOBS and the AMBANIS are not just managers they are leaders If you look at the underlying ingredients of a leader its all to do with having a dream, commitment and desire to achieve those dreams, a vision for the future. Everyone is not a born leader.....some are made........and they are made here........MBA is the means to the ends.....it gives you a broader perspective of things......to follow a vision and have one and to make a difference in whatever you do !!!
MOST of the great CEO's and entrepreneur were college drop outs....You know what...We missed our chance.....so now here is one.....GO for it
